What We Believe

We believe that God is the all-powerful, all-knowing creator of all things, that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, died on the cross in our place for the forgiveness of sins and resurrected three days later, and salvation is by grace through faith in Him alone.  We further believe in the Holy Spirit which works in and through the lives of all believers.

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and is the authority for faith and for life.

We believe that baptism is for those who have believed in Jesus for salvation and is a believer’s initial act of obedience and public declaration of joining one’s life with Jesus and with the local church and that Baptism is by immersion.

We believe that each local church is autonomous and self-governing, that Christ is the head of the church, that the priesthood of believers is lived out in the local church, and that every Christian is called to a local church membership.

We believe that we are called to Jesus’ mission to make disciples of all nations and that God has placed First Baptist Church in Slaton, TX to impact this community with God’s love in word and deed.

Our Mission

The primary purpose of First Baptist Church is to communicate the Good News of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 1:16-17). We endeavor to equip individuals for this purpose by providing opportunities for worship, education, service, and fellowship (Eph. 4:11-16).
