Worship

First Baptist Church exists to worship the true and living God (Isaiah 43:7). We believe that everything we do should be an act of worship (1 Corinthians 10:31). Gathering regularly with God’s people to worship our Creator, Savior, and Lord together is an important part of the life of worship we are called to lead (Hebrews 10:25). Worship services at FBC Slaton center on Scripture and focus on responding rightly to God’s word.

We meet every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and begin each service by reading Scripture as a call to worship. We then sing songs that honor God and typify a right response to God’s word. We also include a call to prayer, children’s message, and expository sermon as part of every worship service.

Discipleship

The church’s mission is to produce disciples (followers) of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19). Discipleship is the life-long process of becoming more and more like the Lord Jesus. We believe that life-on-life discipleship is the best way of helping each other to grow in Christ.

Adult Bible Study Groups

At First Baptist Slaton, Sunday School is the key way we grow in Christ, develop Christian relationships for accountability and support, and extend our Christ-centered outreach to those in our community. We offer a variety of Sunday School classes to accommodate people in every stage of life within our community: in addition to our age graded children and youth Sunday Schools, we offer Adult classes for individuals, couples, those who are young Christians as well as more mature believers.  Classes are offered every Sunday morning along with additional Bible Study and fellowship opportunities on Sunday Night, Wednesday night and Thursday night.

Student Ministry (grades 6 – 12)

Our desire is to join Christian parents in leading teenagers be disciples who will follow Jesus for a lifetime and lead others to do so as well. Join us in the youth room (basement) at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday and 6:00 p.m. each Wednesday. We also offer a variety of student events throughout the year including summer camp and a DiscipleNow Weekend.

Children’s Ministry (Pre-K – 5th grade)

We offer a number of programs to point children to Jesus and encourage them to follow Him all their days. These include age graded Sunday school classes, children’s church, and Team Kid.

Nursery Ministry (ages 0 – 4)

It is never too early to start pointing children toward Jesus. Even the smallest babies can learn that church is good and safe place to be. We have simple lessons and activities for the older nursery-aged children.

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20 (CSB)
