Hi, we’re the Weavers. I’m Darren, my wife of 32 years Holly, and Matt, who will be entering 7th grade this year. We’ve been in ministry a little over 15 years, over 10 of those as senior pastor. Most recently, I’ve served at Forsan Baptist Church as both senior and executive pastor. I’ve also served as pastor of a special needs ministry, I’ve done nursing home ministry, and served as associate pastor of a deaf church. Along with Forsan, I’ve been a senior pastor in Post, and I’ve taught in Texas public schools.
We lived in the Lubbock area for 20 years, serving churches in the area, and we’re excited to call First Baptist Church our home. May God open all our hearts as we seek His will for the future of First Baptist Church.

Nez came to First Baptist Church after retiring from Slaton I.S.D. where she worked at the Jr. High School for 26 years. She and her husband, James, were married for over 50 years until he passed away in 2017. They have two sons: Steve Starkey and wife Jacqueline and Tracy Starkey and wife Jodi. They also have four wonderful grandchildren: Averi, Kash, Ryne and Ryder. Most of her entertainment now consists of watching her grandchildren’s activities.

Our Mission
The primary purpose of First Baptist Church is to communicate the Good News of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 1:16-17). We endeavor to equip individuals for this purpose by providing opportunities for worship, education, service, and fellowship (Eph. 4:11-16).
