Sunday School

Sunday school is the primary venue for growth in Christ at First Baptist Church. We offer a variety of Sunday school classes so that people in every stage of life may find community and fellowship as they study God’s word together. Good News Club

First Baptist Church sponsors a Good News Club at Cathelene Thomas Elementary School on Mondays after school. Good News Clubs are a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship that meet in schools, community centers, churches, and neighborhood homes. Teachers who are screened, trained, and equipped lead action-packed Good News Clubs every week, delivering the timeless truths of the Bible in exciting, engaging ways. Children learn the Gospel, and many come to know Jesus as their Savior. If you are interested in serving in Good News Club or enrolling your child, please contact Will Perry (wperry@fbc-slaton.org).

Committees

Committees are the primary place of service at First Baptist Slaton. We currently have 18 standing committees that serve in all areas of the church including missions, finances, technology, fellowship, youth and nursery. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please email Nez Starkey (nezstarkey@fbc-slaton.org).

Budget & Finance Committee	Prepare, administer and monitor the annual budget.
Benevolence/Memorial Committee	Direct all benevolent work.
Committee on Committees	Nominate committee members for all church committees.
Discipleship/Evangelism/Missions	Promote and oversee discipleship, evangelism and missions of the church.
Fellowship & Kitchen Committee	Plan church-wide fellowships; responsible for the the kitchen and supplies.
Flower Committee	Arrange floral displays for auditorium, foyer, etc.
Funeral Arrangement Committee	Plan and coordinate meals for day of funeral.
House & Grounds Committee	Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the church owned property.
Music Committee	Help Minister of Music plan the music program.
Personnel Committee	Supervises paid staff members (non-ministerial staff).
Preschool/Nursery Committee	Plan and supervise the nursery area.
Senior Adult Committee	Plan and implement senior adult activities.
Sound Equipment Committee	Maintain and run sound and lighting equipment for church services.
Technology Team	Evaluate, develop and assist in implementing technology of the church; run the power point presentation in the services; maintain the church website; upload sermons to website.
Transportation Committee	Supervise and maintain church vehicles.
Ushers/Safety Committee	Greet individuals as they come into church; Pass contribution plates for offerings. Monitor, secure, and maintain entrances to buildings to ensure the safety of the church attendees.
Youth Committee	Plan and help with youth and children’s programs and activities.
