Children’s Ministry

Children’s Ministry Philosophy

The goal of children’s ministry, like all ministries at First Baptist, is to make disciples who will follow Jesus for a lifetime and lead others to do the same. We believe that God has called Christian parents to take primary responsibility for the discipleship of their children. We want to come alongside them and work with them in that process.

Sunday School
Sun. 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
PreK – Adult

Sunday school is the primary venue of discipleship for all ages at First Baptist Church. We believe that life-on-life discipleship is the best of helping each other to grow in our walk with the Lord. We meet on the 2nd floor at 9:30 every Sunday morning to enjoy fellowship and grow in the Lord together.

Children’s Church
Sun. 10:50 – 11:30 a.m.
Classroom 1A
PreK – 2nd grade

Children from PreK and up join their families to sing God’s praises during the main worship service. After the conclusion of the music portion of the service, the children come forward for an object lesson taken from God’s word and then are dismissed to children’s church, where they will enjoy an age appropriate lesson using Gospel Project literature. Children’s church is recommended for children in PreK through 2nd grade, but all children are welcomed. We recognize that every child is different and ask parents and guardians to decide when your child is ready to participate in the full worship service.

TeamKid
Wed. 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Activities Classroom
PreK – 5th Grade

Team Kid is an interactive Wednesday night experience for grades Pre-k through 5th grade, with snacks, games, tons of friends, & lots of learning moments.

We are excited to bring a new study to our Team Kid called Explore the Bible. Our kids will read & study God’s Word book by book in a way that is fun, age appropriate, & sustainable for life.

As parents, we all hope our children will grow up knowing & loving the Lord. Please feel free to join us. We would love to have you!

Good News Club
Cathelene Thomas Elementary School
2nd – 5th Grade

First Baptist Church sponsors a Good News Club at Cathelene Thomas Elementary School on Mondays after school. Good News Clubs are a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship that meet in schools, community centers, churches, and neighborhood homes. Teachers who are screened, trained, and equipped lead action-packed Good News Clubs every week, delivering the timeless truths of the Bible in exciting, engaging ways. Children learn the Gospel, and many come to know Jesus as their Savior. If you are interested in serving in Good News Club or enrolling your child, please contact Will Perry (wperry@fbc-slaton.org).

so that a future generation—children yet to be born—might know. They were to rise and tell their children so that they might put their confidence in God and not forget God’s works, but keep his commands.
