First Baptist Church is delighted to announce that we have called Darren Weaver as our next Pastor. Darren has over 15 years of pastoral ministry experience including more than 10 years as a senior pastor. He most recently served at Forsan Baptist Church as both senior and executive pastor. He has also worked in nursing home and special needs ministries and taught in Texas public schools.
Darren has been married to Holly for 32 years and they have a son named Matt who is entering 7th grade this Fall. They lived in the Lubbock area for 20 years and are excited to call Slaton home.
Darren preached in view of a call in our morning worship service on Sunday, June 25th. He gave his testimony and answered questions from the congregation at 6 o’clock that evening. Afterwards, the church voted unanimously to call Darren as our pastor at a special called business meeting with 73 members voting. Darren has accepted the call and will begin serving as our pastor immediately. We look forward to seeing how God will use him to bless our church family and community!
